Everything included in a single automation unit!
With its latest customized solution for the automation of extrusion plants, the varioECmodular, PMA Prozeß- und Maschinen-Automation GmbH, Kassel, Germany, offers complete functionality for these individual tasks. The varioECmodular system consists of just two modules: The varioPLC, a compact DIN rail unit for the automation tasks, complete with operating and communication software, and the varioDISP, a full-colour display featuring resistive 'touch' operation. Moreover, it also contains a comprehensive software package. As a freely programmable PLC, the PMA varioPLC can be configured in any of the six languages defined in IEC 61131-3. In addition, PMA's extensive function library is available for faster implementation of individual control concepts. Thanks to the integrated editors for operator dialogs, coordination tasks are significantly reduced when compared with previous concepts - also during programming. Due to the plug-in terminal blocks of the varioPLC, field wiring for the wide range of on-board I/O is fast and efficient. If necessary, the hardware can be expanded individually by means of PMA's well-known plug-in vario I/O modules. Moreover, the Ethernet port of the varioPLC enables it to be linked into existing networks. FTP and Web services provide convenient access to data and programs. In this way, the subject of remote diagnostics is also solved in an elegant manner. By means of CANopen and an additional optional field bus (CANopen, Profibus DP, ModBus RTU) intelligent sensors and special processing modules can be coupled to the system. On-site program updates are a simple matter with a memory stick and the USB port. The particularly flat varioDISP - available in several sizes - is connected easily to the varioPLC by means of a cost-effective standard cable (10 m long patch cable), enabling the display to be positioned in the most ergonomic position. Control of the display is part of the varioPLC. If required, communication with an external PC visualization unit is also possible in the upper performance segment. In this way, the full performance capabilities of the varioPLC are available for control and sequencing tasks. The varioECmodular system supplements the successful varioEC product line, which now offers solutions for all kinds of installation - from laboratory extruders up to large, complex plants.
